Visit the Mordecai Historic Park which is home to the oldest house in Raleigh, and the house where President Andrew Johnson was born. Other interesting buildings include: a church that was built by slaves, a lawyer's office building and a kitchen building. The park is also perfect for walking or running. |
Afternoon |
Tour the JC Raulston Arboretum where 5,000 different species are housed. The 8-acre arboretum features meticulously maintained grounds, the Finley-Nottingham Rose Garden which boasts of over one hundred types of roses, an Arboretum including buckeyes, heavenly bamboo, magnolias, and boxwood, and the Klein-Pringle White Garden, a spectacular garden that was heavily influenced by the Sissinghurst in Kent, England. |

At night, catch a Hurricanes game at the RBC Center. Or watch the North Carolina State Wolfpack play basketball. If it's not game night, there usually is an event of interest being held there including concerts, trade shows and circuses. |
