Visit the Mordecai Historic Park which is home to the oldest house in Raleigh, and the house where President Andrew Johnson was born. Other interesting buildings include: a church that was built by slaves, a lawyer's office building and a kitchen building. The park is also perfect for walking or running. |
Afternoon |
Tour the JC Raulston Arboretum where 5,000 different species are housed. The 8-acre arboretum features meticulously maintained grounds, the Finley-Nottingham Rose Garden which boasts of over one hundred types of roses, an Arboretum including buckeyes, heavenly bamboo, magnolias, and boxwood, and the Klein-Pringle White Garden, a spectacular garden that was heavily influenced by the Sissinghurst in Kent, England. |
